From Request to 3D Print: Our Process

At 3D Next Level, we aim to make our customers' dreams a reality. In this blog post, we'll take you through our process and show you how we bring your ideas to life and what you can expect.
Step 1: Submitting the Request

The process begins with submitting your request. You've probably already thought about what you want to 3D print and have the necessary specifications, such as the desired material and the size of the object. Make sure your request is as detailed as possible so that we have a clear understanding of what you want to create. To assist you with submitting a request, we have prepared a questionnaire with all the information we need to provide an accurate quotation. Take a look here for the questionnaire and answer as many questions as possible for an accurate and customized quotation.

Step 2: Quote and Feedback

After receiving the request, we start calculating a quotation. Our team aims to provide a suitable quotation within 1 to 3 days. This timeframe may vary depending on the complexity of the request and our current workload. We ensure that the costs and estimated lead time are presented fairly and transparently. The quotation is then provided to you for feedback.

Step 3: 3D Design

After approval of the quotation, we proceed with the 3D design process. You can provide your 3D design files to us in various file formats, including high-resolution STL and OBJ, or a STEP file. If you have a different file format in mind, please contact us, and we'll explore the options together.

If you don't have a 3D model but have an idea, don't worry, we also offer design services. This can be done in two ways: we can create a 3D model based on your ideas, or we can perform a 3D scan of an existing object. The goal is to create an accurate digital model that forms the basis for your 3D printing project.

Step 4: Adjustments for Printability

Sometimes, 3D printing requires adjustments to the 3D model to ensure printability. We take care of optimizing the design, such as adjusting wall thicknesses, removing overhanging parts, and adding support structures, so that the object can be successfully printed. When we make visible changes to the design, we will of course present the modified 3D design to you for approval.

Step 4: 3D Printing

Now it's time for the magic of 3D printing. The approved 3D model is built layer by layer. The lead time varies depending on the complexity of the project and the technology used.

The exact delivery time for your 3D printed product is always determined in consultation, as it depends on various factors, including the complexity of the design and the current workload. Generally, the average delivery time for 3D printed products is about 3-4 weeks. However, we understand that there are situations where urgency is required. Just reach out to us and we'll do our best to accommodate your needs. Contact us and we can discuss the specific details of your project and your desired delivery time. We're here to help and ensure that you receive your 3D print on time.

Step 5: Finished 3D Object

After 3D printing, the object is carefully finished according to our agreement with you. This can range from smoothing and sanding to adding special details or finishes. We offer optional extras depending on your preferences, such as:

  • Spraying the 3D object in a specific color.
  • Applying decals on the 3D object.
  • Installing LED lighting in the 3D object to make it light up.

Step 6: Transportation and On-site Assembly (Optional)

If desired, we can transport the 3D object to your designated location and assemble it if necessary. Alternatively, you can choose to pick up your 3D print from our location in Schipluiden. When opting for a large 3D print from us, we can provide a custom-made transport crate. This crate is specially designed to protect your precious 3D object during transportation. We understand how important it is for your creation to arrive undamaged at its destination, so we take all necessary measures to ensure this happens. If you need assistance with the attachment or installation of your 3D print on-site, our assembly team is at your service. We strive to ensure that you are fully satisfied with the final result of your 3D print project.

Contact us today to discuss your project and take the first step towards creating something unique and special.
